From Mactan-Cebu International Airport it is usually a 20-40 minute taxi or Grab ride, and from Cebu City it is roughly 45 minutes to well over an hour depending on traffic and which bridge you take. How to get to Plantation Bay from Mactan-Cebu Airport

The airport is on the same island as the resort, so this is the easiest trip.

By airport taxi

After you exit arrivals, follow the signs to the taxi bays. MCIA has both the yellow airport taxis, which charge a higher flag-down rate, and regular white metered taxis. Tell the driver "Plantation Bay, Marigondon". Our guide to yellow taxis at Mactan airport explains the differences and the queue.

Fares are metered and change from time to time, so treat any estimate as approximate. As a rough guide, a white taxi to Marigondon often costs a few hundred pesos, with yellow taxis costing more. Ask the driver to use the meter.

By Grab

Grab operates in Metro Cebu, including pickups at the airport from designated areas. Booking in the app gives you an upfront fare, which is handy if you are tired after a flight. Prices surge at busy times, so compare with the taxi queue.

By hotel transfer

Many resorts, including high-end ones on Mactan, can arrange airport pickups for guests. It is usually the priciest option but the simplest, especially with children or lots of luggage. Arrange it directly with the resort before you fly.

How to get to Plantation Bay from Cebu City

Cebu City is on mainland Cebu, so you need to cross to Mactan. There are three road links.

RouteHow it worksWhen it's best
CCLEX (Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway)From the South Road Properties (SRP) area in Cebu City across to Cordova, then north-east along the coast roads to MarigondonComing from southern Cebu City, SRP, or areas near the south coastal road
Marcelo Fernan BridgeFrom Mandaue to Lapu-Lapu, then through the city to MarigondonComing from Mandaue, Banilad, IT Park or north Cebu City
Mactan-Mandaue Bridge (old bridge)Similar to Marcelo Fernan, often used as an alternativeWhen traffic is lighter on this side

CCLEX is a toll road, and toll rates are set by the operator and can change. Our CCLEX guide explains how it works.

By taxi or Grab from Cebu City

This is the most practical option. Tell the driver which bridge you prefer; from the south, CCLEX can save a lot of time when the old bridges are jammed. Expect a fare noticeably higher than from the airport because of the extra distance, plus any toll fee.

By public transport

It is possible but slow. You would take a jeepney or bus from Cebu City to Lapu-Lapu City, then a local jeepney or tricycle towards Marigondon. Routes and fares change, so ask locals or the drivers. With luggage, a taxi or Grab is much easier.

What to expect at Plantation Bay Cebu

Plantation Bay is best known for its big man-made lagoons. Rather than being a typical beach resort on open sea, it has wide saltwater lagoons with sandy edges, plus freshwater pools, set among palm trees and plantation-style buildings. It is popular with families, couples and people looking for a quiet stay close to the airport.

You can expect:

  • Lagoons and pools. Swimming areas of different depths, including shallow sections suitable for kids.
  • Water activities. Resorts like this usually offer kayaks and similar non-motorised activities; check what is available when you visit.
  • Spa. The resort has its own spa.
  • Restaurants and bars. Several on-site dining options.
  • Nearby sea access. Mactan's east coast also has dive and snorkel spots, and island-hopping boats run to nearby islets.

Day-use at Plantation Bay

Many Mactan resorts offer day-use passes for non-staying guests, which typically include access to pools or beaches and sometimes a food or drink credit. Plantation Bay has offered day-use options in the past, but availability, rules, inclusions and prices change and may be limited on busy days.

Before you go, check the official website or contact the resort directly to confirm:

  • Whether day-use is available on your date
  • What it includes and the approximate price
  • Age rules, ID requirements and whether you must book ahead
  • What time day-use guests must leave

Tips for a smooth trip to Plantation Bay

  1. Leave buffer time. Mactan traffic can be slow, especially near the bridges at rush hour and on weekends.
  2. Carry small bills. Taxi drivers may not have change for large notes.
  3. Use the meter. Ask politely before the taxi leaves.
  4. Watch the weather. Check the Cebu weather before heading out, especially in the rainy months.
  5. Plan your budget. Use our trip budget calculator to estimate transport, food and accommodation.
  6. Combine with sightseeing. The Lapu-Lapu Shrine and Magellan's Shrine are on Mactan, and our Cebu tourist spots guide lists more.
