What’s the History of Grab a Crab?

I was looking for the history of this seafood restaurant but found nothing on the Net. I’m kind of intrigued whether this restaurant started here in Davao or Manila or anywhere else abroad.

What I found out was there is Grab a Crab located in Maryland USA, exactly at 1220 E. Homberg Avenue Essex, MD, 21221, founded in 1986. Not so sure though if this is the original and the very first Grab a Crab Seafood Restaurant in the world.

There is also this company called Grab a Crab, Inc in Jacksonville, Florida. Not so sure of this is the same seafood restaurant.

Other than these, Grab a Crab can be found in the Philippines. There is one in General Santos City. Others here in Davao, at Buhangin Poblacion, Abreeza Mall and one at where I’ve gone at SM City Davao. Probably also in all SM malls nationwide.

This restaurant is very well known for its very scrumptious spicy crabs. They also serve Pampano Sea Bass, Mixed Cold Cuts, Crispy Shrimp, Beef Steak, and just like what we had at SM: Buttered Chicken with Garlic and Mixed Vegetables.

I, or rather we, didn’t have the chance to grab a crab. Yup as in we haven’t had those spicy crabs that customers are looking for in this restaurant.

It was a buffet with no crabs. Nevertheless the food served to us tasted great. The vegetable mix or I want to call it chopsuey was my favorite. I’ll definitely try to grab this vegetable along with those spicy crabs when I get back.

Still, left me wondering where exactly this restaurant began and how. Just leaving me curious. Left me asking how did the creator come up with the name “grab a crab.”
