“You can’t fire me ’cause I quit,” says a famous line from a Nirvana song.

This seems to be the case of VP Leni Robredo after she announced her resignation from the cabinet of the Duterte administration some hours ago as of writing.

At least, this is according to House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez text message he sent to GMA network.

Alvarez texted:

“Considering the situation, I think she is FIRED,”

VP Robredo announced her resignation as chair of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council after having received a text message from Cabinet Secretary Jun Evasco Jr. that President Rodrigo Duterte wanted her to desist from attending all Cabinet meetings starting Monday, December 5.

Evasco told the media that President Duterte and VP Robredo have differences the reason for why she was stopped from attending cabinet meetings.

Despite of Alvarez’s text message, Secretary Evasco said that VP Robredo was not fired.

Judging from the text message of Evasco, Robredo looks like she was fired, or at least, she was forced to resign.

Robredo is still the Vice President of the Philippines even after she resigns from cabinet on Monday.
