Wonder what kind of shoes President Duterte was wearing in Malacañang these past few days? And who gave him those shoes?

The shoes were a gift from Pinatex leather founder Carmen Hijosa. Pinatex is a company that uses pineapple leaf fiber as raw materials for making car seat covers and designer shoes.

The shoes were given to PRRD together with Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel F. Pinol, Undersecretary for Administration, Agribusiness and Marketing, and Regional Engagement Bernadette Romulo-Puyat and Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon M. Lopez, who led the turn-over ceremony in Malacañang.

Piñol said to PRRD:

“With this development, hundreds of tons of Pineapple Leaves which were left in the field to rot in the past, can now be the source of income for poor farmers to be able to send their children to school.”
