According to three diplomats who were present during the meeting with world leaders at ASEAN Summit 2016 at Vientene, Laos, instead of having his well-prepared speech, President Duterte showed a picture of dead people who were allegedly killed by US soldiers in the past, at least according to Duterte.
One of the three diplomats, who is an Indonesian said, quoting Duterte: “This is my ancestor they killed. Why now we are talking about human rights?” According to the Indonesian delegate, Duterte said this while he was showing the picture to the people in the room.
The delegate described the atmosphere in the room as quiet and shocked.
