The President spewed a new word today when he said “I’m Sorry” to Local Officials who have been dragged into spoils of war against drug by the infamous narco list.
President Rodrigo Duterte apologized to former Pangasinan Governor and now Rep. Amado Espino, after Duterte had mistakenly tagged him in his narco-list as the coddler of the illegal drug trade in the province.
This apology is a first for the President since he had assumed the Presidential seat was meant for Pangasinan Rep. Amado Espino Jr., Board Member Raul Sison and former provincial administrator Rafael Baraan whom he accused of protecting and being part of the illegal drug trade.
After President Rodrigo Duterted had inspected the seized shabu factory in Arayat, Pampanga; He issud a statement saying, “”I would like to apologize to you publicly. And I would say now, I am very sorry. Somehow, we were negligent in counter-checking during the first report.” He admitted that the narco list may have been a few years old.
Duterte explained that there is nothing was wrong with the list but there might have been lapses in the report. He also explained that he personally checked the list and reports, revalidating it with other nody of government. However, something was amiss linking Espino to the illegal drug trade.
“I take full responsibility. Ako yung nag-announce. [I was the one who announced.] Even if the soldiers and the police commit a serious mistake, I will assume full responsibility,” said Duterte.
Meanwhile, Espino also released a statement that he accepts the apology and is humbled by the President Duterte’s humility in admitting his mistakes. Espino is also grateful that his name has been cleared from the involvement in the alleged drug matrix the President has in his custody.
