On the second part of Mocha Uson’s video interview to President-elect Duterte, the particular portion that requires Duterte’s answer to Mocha’s question: ‘Why Boycott the Philippine Media?’ Duterte tells a story in the past when Gabby Lopez, CEO of ABS-CBN, went to his hotel to ask Sky Cable to operate in Davao City.

Since the owner of Home Channel Network, Sky Cable’s competitor, is Duterte’s friend, Mr. Lopez and company went to him to ask for this request. Mr. Lopez even had an offer for then Mayor Duterte to buy ABS-CBN shares. According to Duterte, Lopez offered him some money just to operate in the city. Duterte signed the approval document to let ABS-CBN operate in the city but he did not accept any money from Mr. Lopez.

He says:

“Meron ditong home channel noon o country cable. Sabi ko, that has nothing to do with my job.

Sabihin mo yung totoo. Binigay ni Gabby. Ito yung application ninyo? Blanko, pinirmahan ko, approved.

O, yan o, binigay ko sa kanya. That was all. Alam niyang ganoon.

On that note, Duterte says that Gabby Lopez himself said, that of all the cities they went in to operate, Davao City is the only city that did not accept money from him.

Duterte says:

“I want it stated for the record; na sa lahat ng pinasok ng Sky Cable, Davao City lang ang walang nanghingi sa kanila. Mabuti yan klaro-klaro, for posterity yan, whatever it is really worth to the public. Mabuti rin yang magsabi tayo ng totoo. And for once, pinilit akong magtanggap ng ano, e I refused at ipinilit. And after that I said no.”

Duterte also says, at the peak of the campaign of the presidential elections, ABS-CBN wasn’t fair with him. He says, with the 30-second campaign ad that cost 900,000 Pesos, some of his ads weren’t accepted because the network was favoring Mar Roxas.

Last May 8, 2016, on the eve of the Election Day, the Anti-Duterte Ad started to roll on giant TV networks ABS-CBN and GMA 7.
